Time to make a 2nd post with scenes from a 60s TV show with an animal as the lead “actor”.
Now, not that one with the dolphin, the one with the kangaroo.
In this one world-famous diver, Valerie Taylor can be seen in one out of only 3 acting roles (movie/TV shows).

Initially, I wanted to cut down the video as it is now half the length of the full episode.
But well, I wanted to include all her wetsuit scenes so I decided to choose the first long cut as the video. And Youtube seemingly doesn’t mind in this case.
Certainly some nice and interesting scenes with Valerie Taylor in a wetsuit for half an episode. 🙂
Well, I would have preferred a black rubber wetsuit, but no luck.
From today’s point of view, it is certainly quite ironic that Valerie Taylor who made many documentaries about sharks and was very unhappy in her involvement in the making of “Jaws” swims away in fear from a harmless shark….but well, times were different and most people were very afraid of any shark.
The peril element here is a nice addition if that means she is unconscious for the rest of the episode…which is quite odd. I mean why didn’t they show her awake at the end?
The young boy then saved her from drowning and then had some close scenes with Valerie Taylor in her tight, wet wetsuit on that boat…. I wouldn’t mind swapping with him 😉
Most likely he was too young back then to “appreciate” it.
Shortly after I realized that there was a better video quality available (720×480) and I re-watched the movie yesterday.
So, I will make a BIG UPGRADE to the old post:
— better video quality and a longer cut of the scuba highlight of the movie
— a 2nd video just for the blog, not for my (public) Youtube channel
— a proper text for this interesting movie

This movie is quite interesting and has unusual dark humor.
Ok, let’s start with some negative aspects before we come to the good ones.
The underwater scene is scripted quite odd in some places.
The female diver, who is not a cop, but works as a movie prop master with the other blonde guy…. is the one here who puts herself in danger to save lives.
She cuts one woman loose and then gets attacked by the villain.
Meanwhile, the cop is above her and doesn’t help her. Yeah, he gives his regulator to the freed woman but doesn’t attack the villain.
But the “good” divers more or less ignore the other woman (red blouse) and she drowns because of that. They could have saved her (most likely) if they would have worked together.
But well, the movie itself ignores her at that point completely as well as she isn’t shown 😆
Two more (odd) things I noticed:
Surprisingly they incl. an underwater upskirt shot here as the producer sinks down with her skirt and pantyhose …. #odd #rare
If you look closely at the face of the freed woman in 2:57, you can see the marks of a scuba mask. Well, she wasn’t wearing one in the movie… but seemingly in the preparation of this shot.
I really like how the frogwoman here dives down quickly and decisively to save these women.
She manages to cut one loose and also ties the bad guy to the weight. Good job!
But what does she do next? She let the bad guy take her out of the action by letting him flood her mask and rip her regulator out!
How does that happen? She has all the advantages she can have. She has a wetsuit, a scuba mask, a scuba tank, and a knife!
He has nothing, can’t see much without a mask…. but manages to overpower her.
But then both are failing…. in a way.
He should have secured that regulator to be able to breathe…or at least try to do that. Her regulator was his one chance to survive here.
Ok, she was (seemingly) surprised by her flooded mask and regulator.
But she should have been able to put the regulator back in and clear her mask as soon she was away from him.
Ok, maybe she doesn’t have much experience and was shocked….but why does she stay on the surface then?
I don’t get why she stays there and doesn’t try to save the other woman….
However, it’s a really fine peril scene nonetheless!
A very rare setting with that insane guy and his drowning fetish.
In my version, he would attack scuba divers underwater and there would be some nice long scuba fights in the movie 😉
You now think that he actually drowned there very calmly?
Spoiler title
Well, at the end of the movie it gets revealed that he is actually still alive! Don’t have the slightest clue how the hell he did that as good guys stayed there for quite a while.

But I wanna share another scene from the movie.
In this earlier scene, he does make his first attempt to drown the female lead….

Good to have some more short scenes with our frogwoman in this one!
It’s quite odd that the bad guy drops his victim right on top of three scuba divers…
I mean, their boat must be close by and he should see and hear all those bubbles that they make.
But ok, maybe he was so blind (and deaf) as he was occupied with her….
The poor female lead is quite shocked by what she sees underwater….understandably.
The oldest corpse looks a little too “fake” and seemingly he killed all the others in a very short amount of time as they still look very “fresh”.
I like the plan as they try to fool him with that crafted corpse to get him on camera (as he visits them daily), even though that plan doesn’t work out and he can escape.
There are some more diving snippets with the villain but without any female divers.
There is actually a sequel to this movie.
I watched it very long ago and am 99,9% sure there are no female scuba scenes in that one, but I will check that.
What I would give to have that scene in full colors…..
There are 4 seasons of this TV show. 3 of them were filmed in color. Sadly this is from the first season 🙁
However, I really love that scene despite some flaws!
Thankfully they had a female diver to play the role and didn’t use a male to play her action part as they often did in the 50s and 60s.
A really big minus point for me is how passive she is. But well, fits the time in which this was shot.
She basically does nothing. She doesn’t defend herself and she doesn’t attack him at any time! She did have quite some opportunities to attack him, but she is basically a Scubadoll in a rubber suit 😆
She just holds onto him while he is occupied with her tank harness, she could easily rip off his mask or rip out his regulator! Yes, she doesn’t have her scuba mask, but he is so close in front of her, that she should be able to see him well enough.
The fact that she doesn’t need her tank to breathe underwater is a minus point as well, but you can easily change that in your fantasy 😉
If I remember the backstory right she has the special ability to breathe underwater.
The bad guys are using her as a weapon to fight the submarine of the good guys. Her tank is actually an explosive device.
I love how the guy immediately goes for her mask to blind her (temporarily). He knows what he is doing.
It’s very rare to have an unmasked woman in such a scuba fight scene.
Her “unmasked” face looks quite sexy…
He has to get rid of her explosive “tank” and therefore he strips her of her scuba tank as well and thereby she also loses her regulator (that she needs in my fantasy).
The explosion hits her, and she is unconscious for the moment.
The naughty frogman takes ….advantage…. of that:
Damn, that stunt diver(?) really had a great time! I guess they had to repeat some of these scenes quite often 😆
I added the scene where she is unconscious and gets carried around in the submarine as that is quite sexy as well.
Again I played around with the simple tool to colorize one picture:
Yeah, not exactly a great result but at least better than the black and white version.
Pretty sure that is the Voit logo on his chest. Look like they used the same suits later on in Thunderball (different colors).
This episode actually aired earlier in the same year as Thunderball did (1965).
Today I wanna post a full HD video with proper text for this sexy scene!

As you can see I made some cuts in the last part of the video. Well, I wanted to keep the length of the video to a certain size and besides that, she isn’t in these scenes that I cut out.
I recommend watching the whole movie if you like movies like Jaws. This one is pretty good and it has one GREAT feature for me: A fantastic score by grandmaster Ennio Morricone which really makes this movie stand out in comparison to others of this genre (+good actors).
Ok, back to this scene.
Her whole scuba gear is pretty close to perfection to me! This vintage wetsuit just looks awesome 🙂
Ok, I would prefer a vintage double hose regulator for her, but that classic single hose regulator is very nice as well.
From today’s point of view, it looks rather….odd, that she (who is a marine biologist) is hiding between the rocks as a shark approaches. But ok, a great white shark does look menacing, even he is not nearly as dangerous in reality as in the movies. But back in the old days nearly everyone thought that all sharks would be very dangerous, especially after Jaws.
However, it’s a thrilling scene to see her squeeze herself between these rocks.
It’s a fun scene later on as well, as the rough captain yells at the diver (he thought it was a man) and she then pulls back her hood to reveal her long hair.
Yeah, that sight of her in that wetsuit made him speechless for a moment.
Who could blame him? 😉
Charlotte Rampling did look pretty good back then. She was around 30 as the movie was shot, and that wetsuit is just very sexy.
In my version, she would hide from the shark as well but would damage her air hose as she would leave the rocks. Even that would be hard to do in a realistic fashion. Perhaps it got stuck there 😉
So, with the shark close by and her losing a lot of air…. you would have a little more thrill! 😉
I know this scene for a long time and never really thought of making a post about it.
Last year a nice guy recommended me this one again and mentioned that there was a longer cut of this movie that contained much more scuba scenes than the standard cut.
I checked it and still wasn’t sure if I would make a post about it. I mean the overall tone is just very goofy.
The downside is that the extended cut isn’t available in really good quality, at least to my knowledge. But better to have more scuba scenes here 😉
The scuba scenes here are very long and mostly focused on the male main character.
So, I decided to make a video with all her scenes, a frogwoman cut of the scenes 😉

Watch the video before you continue!
I included some scenes with her out of her anti-shark suit as you can see.
All in all some nice scenes, especially like the scene where the evil diver yanks off her mask to steal the little tank from her (that contains something everyone is after).
A shame that this whole tone is so goofy and that there is never any real danger (for the good guys) as this here is basically more a comedy than everything else at this point.
The scene where Jackie Chan uses her (and her suit) as a shield against the bad guy with the huge knife is quite nice as well. Certainly a unique scene.
Pretty hilarious that he kicks her then and she “flies” some meters through the water 😆
*EDIT* Thanks to a nice user and his comment I wanna post the picture right here in the post:

Yeah, she looks quite stunning in her wetsuit and bikini….
