Vintage frogwoman dives alone [50’s scuba]

Today I wanna show a very RARE clip from the verrrrry early days of scuba diving!

I got this one from a very friendly user and didn’t edit anything on this one myself.

In this video, we have a frogwoman who takes her boat to go diving.

Well, what I would give if this would be in color!

But even in black and white, she looks stunning in her rubber shortie wetsuit!

For my taste, the diving scene was too short and could have used more action.

The scene on the boat is pretty sexy as she unmasks herself and opens the zipper of her wetsuit.

And either it was pretty cold…or she was happy to see that lifeguard! 😉

I really don’t know how the censors didn’t censor that scene! In the ’50s and ’60s, these evil folks were verrrrrry sensitive/touchy.

An underwater treasure not everyone wants to share – Part 2

Time to finish this storyline!

Here is part 1 of the story.

Now our “colorful” frogwoman goes for another scuba dive with that frogman in black.

But something doesn’t feel right about him! What are his plans?

Can she escape his deadly speargun?

I decided to delete two short scenes with her father looking for her, but let the other ones in the video as they are kind of important why he is showing up to save her.

Well, the scene does have quite some good aspects!

I do like to see him chasing after her and pinning her there where she can’t escape him. Of course, I would have preferred a scuba fight between HER and the bad guy, but with that speargun pointed at her….it was difficult to even start it for her. It is good that she had the courage of trying to escape him, even her chances would have been much better …..in my opinion, if she would have attacked him by surprise then to think she would be able to outswim him.

She was really lucky that he didn’t pull the trigger, he had enough time….but maybe he had some doubts about killing her, or was thinking about the available options for him.

The fight between the frogmen was pretty cool, even it was too short.

What I didn’t like was how passive she was as her father fought with the bad guy. But that is typical behavior for most frogwomen in these old movies/TV shows. 🙁

She could (should) have easily helped her father! As the bad guy was occupied with fighting him she could have ripped his mask off….grabbed the speargun…or…or…..or…..

….However, I really like this scene!

An underwater treasure not everyone wants to share – Part 1

Time for more vintage scuba with some 80’s diving action!

In this first scene, we have a frogman and a frogwoman who are diving to find an underwater treasure.

Some of you will like the 80’s scuba gear. I’m not the biggest fan, especially of these colorful wetsuits…. 

But the scene is a nice warm-up for the 2nd scuba scene of this episode.

Let’s just say one of them doesn’t wanna share the treasure with the other one 😉

As you can see there isn’t even an episode guide for this show. Sadly this remake of the classic Sea Hunt show is only available in VHS quality as it was never released on DVD.

The fake frogwoman and the nazi treasure

Time for some vintage scuba action from a rather rare TV show!

This scene is 60 years old and one of the very early scenes with scuba action in it.

Story: The hero is blackmailed by an evil guy to retrieve some nazi treasure from a sunken ship. The villain doesn’t trust the good guy of course and sends a frogwoman(!) down with him.

Well, this scene offers a LOT! But it also has two major problems….

Let’s start with the good aspects. In 1960 it was still pretty unusual for women to dive, and especially to have/film a scuba fight like that. She looks great in the vintage rubber wetsuit!

I like the sneaky movie from the villain to drop the speargun down to her, even that plan failed as she couldn’t catch it. The close combat between them is well done and I love the idea of him tying her up underwater so he could handle the bad guy on the surface one on one.

And…of course….she looks even better as she surfaces and is still wet in that great outfit 🙂

Now the two big problems I have with that scene:

a) It is filmed in black and white! Ok, even in 1960 that was still rather a normal procedure. But the whole scene would look sooooo much better/sexier in color!

and

b) the frogwoman turns into a frogMAN underwater! Back in the day, it was (sadly) a rather normal thing that a man would double a woman in an action scene as there were nearly no stuntwomen to do that. However, it is really horrible when that happens!

And here it is verrrry obvious as the evil diver has suddenly no more breasts, and his legs and arms are way too pumped in comparison to the woman on the boat.

Damn, I would love to see a remake of this scene! In color and with a frogWOman underwater.

And then a really long struggle before he manages to defeat her and ties her up underwater.

Breaking Surface – A very promising new scuba movie!

I don’t know if I ever have written here about an upcoming movie, I guess not. But this one surely deserves our attention!

Thanks to a user on a forum I learned about the upcoming, Swedish movie “Breaking surface”.

Let us start with the trailer (without subtitles):

Well, I have to say I wasn’t that excited about a new movie with scuba scenes since I saw the trailer for “Sanctum” several years back!

This one seems all about two frogwomen (sisters actually) and their diving trip that really takes a bad turn. I don’t understand the Swedish dialogues in the trailer, but it is rather easy to understand the basic story:

As one of them is trapped underwater the older sister needs to supply her trapped, younger sister with full air tanks to stay alive and find a way to free her before all air supplies are gone.

And the trailer alone shows already quite a lot of scuba peril scenes and hints at how much there might be in the full movie. I’m not the biggest fan of drysuits, but that is only a minor issue. They have modern full-face scuba masks, actually quite a rare sight in movies. And the last FFM’s I saw in movies were masks that were designed just for the movies, and they weren’t very attractive.

As you can see in the last moments of the trailer the movie will premiere in Sweden on February 14th. It doesn’t have any premiere dates for other countries now and somehow I don’t think that will change that close to the premiere. I do hope that the movie will surface along with subtitles in the near future as I really MUST see this one!

An interesting detail: 1:21 into the trailer there is a diver with a different scuba mask. Is that another diver? If yes, who is he/she and what does this diver intend to do?

Or is the diver her older sister? But why would she now use a different scuba mask? Is her old one broke by then? Many interesting questions 😉

Official storyline:

A few days after Christmas, Swedish/Norwegian half-sisters, Ida and Tuva, set out on a winter dive in a remote part of the Norwegian coastline. Towards the end of the dive, a rockslide traps Tuva underwater. As Ida surfaces to call for help, she discovers that the rockslide has struck above water as well, burying their equipment, phones, and car keys… they are completely cut off from any chance of outside rescue. As the frantic race for survival unfolds, Ida is put to the ultimate test of character and forcefulness. During Ida’s fight to save Tuva, a fractured sisterhood is exposed, and when all seems lost, the stakes rise beyond simple survival.

Diver rips out the regulator of a female diver!

This is a rather special scene I forgot to upload so far.

It’s a rather rare movie that is nearly 30 years old…but luckily it was shown in full HD on TV!

Story: A female scuba diver explorer the underwater world alone as suddenly she gets attacked from behind….

Hah, I am sure you were surprised by that twist! 😉

Pretty brutal “test” to attack his own daughter like that and to rip out her regulator!

I guess many here would have loved to see what would have happened if that wasn’t a test, but a real attack. 😉

However, I really like the sneaky attack and the short struggle afterward. Sadly there is no other scuba scene in that whole movie which made this opening a little …..odd.

A female spy goes scuba diving

I saw this one… years ago, but thanks to J. for reminding me of this scene!

In this one, we have a female spy/agent who needs to infiltrate a place on the coastline.

She gears up into her scuba gear!

Yeah, the scene is pretty short and there is no real underwater action, but it is nice to see Jennifer Garner in a wetsuit.

Would have been the perfect chance for a real scuba fight!

In my version, there would have been a long scuba fight before she actually makes it through that tunnel.

A scuba diver would be patrolling around that underwater “entrance” 😉

Well, in my opinion, the scene has interesting scuba gear, but nothing that gets me really excited.

Japanese frogwoman battles henchmen on dry land!

Sorry for not posting on the weekend, I was away most of the time.

But here is a short video with a nice Japanese frogwoman in action. Not underwater but on dry land. Thanks to whoever recommended me this one last January.

Well, I must admit, for me, the clip is somehow nice, but nothing special, but I guess it’s a good video for some of the wetsuit folks out there who like to see a woman in action while wearing a wetsuit. Sadly there are no underwater scenes with her at all, otherwise, they would have been in the video ;-).

The change from wetsuit to her “normal” clothes is hilarious. Interesting to see what she was supposed to wear under her wetsuit. Even cowboy boots. And it takes a “little” longer to get out of such a wetsuit 😆

I do like her trick to seduce the guys by slowly opening her wetsuit zipper. What a nice distraction 😉
