Watched this movie a couple of times since a was a teenager.

Not a really good movie….but a very unusual and interesting movie nonetheless.

This movie came out just 3 years after Jaws had been the first blockbuster in cinema history.

It has a similar topic (evil man-eating animals) but with an eco touch to the story.

And the ending is quite surprising, a very rare sort of ending.

Ok, I’m not a fan of divers in shirts….but the other vintage dive gear is quite nice (mask and regulator)!

You can clearly see the handmade effects as the Barracudas attack their prey (they seem to really like her butt 😉 ), you can clearly see the plastic or rubber Barracudas they used. Looks rather funny from nowadays point of view, but there was no CGI back in the day and the movie had no big budget.

Interestingly the first (very good) Piranha movie was made in the same year like this one, so you had 2 movies with different killer fishes made in the same year.

The swimmer, the frogwoman and the beast

This one took a looooong road to be posted here.

The movie was recommended several times to me by different users, I checked the scenes, wasn’t very thrilled by them, and pretty much forgot about it.

Thanks to the folks who recommended it!

But now, finally, I wanna post it as I do think now, that many folks may like it more than I do.

I am looking forward to the reactions!

The clip is rather long as the female lead is running around in her wetsuit for quite a while, and I know that many like to see that as well.

I could write about the weird story of this one….but no, I won’t 😉

I didn’t think this video would be problematic since the movie is so unknown and old, but well, I moved it to Goggle Drive so you folks can still enjoy the scenes.

Yeah, I know the picture quality isn’t good….but that fits the actual quality of the movie. There is no Blu-ray or DVD release of this one 😉

The idea of the rubber frogman as a sea monster is interesting. I don’t know why she would faint, even he surfaces so suddenly. She should have noticed the bubbles he leaves before…and thereby knows that there is no monster chasing her but a diver.

He’s a pretty creepy guy and actually dies only moments later as the real “monster” gets him. That was done really bad, therefore I excluded that scene…and besides this is the frogWOman blog 😉

A shame that the creepy guy has the really great vintage scuba gear and the female lead and her guy have only rather lame neoprene suits (in my opinion).

Would have been great to see the woman in that rubber gear fighting the monster underwater! But no luck…

I am quite surprised how well the video was accepted by the viewers on Youtube (as long it was up).

It had over 96% likes (to dislike-ratio), which was better than for example the Breaking surface videos that are at 93/94% likes

But it seems that many are already very happy to see a woman in such a vintage wetsuit, even there is no “real” scuba action in it.

Frogwoman gets stuck underwater….and finds gold treasure!

I stumbled upon this flick by accident more or less. It has one good scuba peril scene and some more diving scenes with a female scuba diver.

I added one more scuba scene of her to the peril scene.

A solid peril scene. Of course, she is out of air as soon she gets trapped.

There seems to be a hidden rule for getting trapped underwater in a movie. If you get trapped your gauge MUST be in the red section. 😆

Perhaps she didn’t deserve it, but she risked a lot by diving through that tight space, especially as she had countless other possibilities.

I like these silver vintage regulators, that was a nice bonus.

Vintage frogwoman dives alone [50’s scuba]

Today I wanna show a very RARE clip from the verrrrry early days of scuba diving!

I got this one from a very friendly user and didn’t edit anything on this one myself.

In this video, we have a frogwoman who takes her boat to go diving.

Well, what I would give if this would be in color!

But even in black and white, she looks stunning in her rubber shortie wetsuit!

For my taste, the diving scene was too short and could have used more action.

The scene on the boat is pretty sexy as she unmasks herself and opens the zipper of her wetsuit.

And either it was pretty cold…or she was happy to see that lifeguard! 😉

I really don’t know how the censors didn’t censor that scene! In the ’50s and ’60s, these evil folks were verrrrrry sensitive/touchy.

An underwater treasure not everyone wants to share – Part 2

Time to finish this storyline!

Here is part 1 of the story.

Now our “colorful” frogwoman goes for another scuba dive with that frogman in black.

But something doesn’t feel right about him! What are his plans?

Can she escape his deadly speargun?

I decided to delete two short scenes with her father looking for her, but let the other ones in the video as they are kind of important why he is showing up to save her.

–

Well, the scene does have quite some good aspects!

I do like to see him chasing after her and pinning her there where she can’t escape him. Of course, I would have preferred a scuba fight between HER and the bad guy, but with that speargun pointed at her….it was difficult to even start it for her. It is good that she had the courage of trying to escape him, even her chances would have been much better …..in my opinion, if she would have attacked him by surprise then to think she would be able to outswim him.

She was really lucky that he didn’t pull the trigger, he had enough time….but maybe he had some doubts about killing her, or was thinking about the available options for him.

The fight between the frogmen was pretty cool, even it was too short.

What I didn’t like was how passive she was as her father fought with the bad guy. But that is typical behavior for most frogwomen in these old movies/TV shows. 🙁

She could (should) have easily helped her father! As the bad guy was occupied with fighting him she could have ripped his mask off….grabbed the speargun…or…or…..or…..

….However, I really like this scene!

An underwater treasure not everyone wants to share – Part 1

Time for more vintage scuba with some 80’s diving action!

In this first scene, we have a frogman and a frogwoman who are diving to find an underwater treasure.

Some of you will like the 80’s scuba gear. I’m not the biggest fan, especially of these colorful wetsuits…. 

But the scene is a nice warm-up for the 2nd scuba scene of this episode.

Let’s just say one of them doesn’t wanna share the treasure with the other one 😉

As you can see there isn’t even an episode guide for this show. Sadly this remake of the classic Sea Hunt show is only available in VHS quality as it was never released on DVD.

The fake frogwoman and the nazi treasure

Time for some vintage scuba action from a rather rare TV show!

This scene is 60 years old and one of the very early scenes with scuba action in it.

Story: The hero is blackmailed by an evil guy to retrieve some nazi treasure from a sunken ship. The villain doesn’t trust the good guy of course and sends a frogwoman(!) down with him.

Well, this scene offers a LOT! But it also has two major problems….

Let’s start with the good aspects. In 1960 it was still pretty unusual for women to dive, and especially to have/film a scuba fight like that. She looks great in the vintage rubber wetsuit!

I like the sneaky movie from the villain to drop the speargun down to her, even that plan failed as she couldn’t catch it. The close combat between them is well done and I love the idea of him tying her up underwater so he could handle the bad guy on the surface one on one.

And…of course….she looks even better as she surfaces and is still wet in that great outfit 🙂

Now the two big problems I have with that scene:

a) It is filmed in black and white! Ok, even in 1960 that was still rather a normal procedure. But the whole scene would look sooooo much better/sexier in color!

and

b) the frogwoman turns into a frogMAN underwater! Back in the day, it was (sadly) a rather normal thing that a man would double a woman in an action scene as there were nearly no stuntwomen to do that. However, it is really horrible when that happens!

And here it is verrrry obvious as the evil diver has suddenly no more breasts, and his legs and arms are way too pumped in comparison to the woman on the boat.

Damn, I would love to see a remake of this scene! In color and with a frogWOman underwater.

And then a really long struggle before he manages to defeat her and ties her up underwater.

Well, in my opinion, the scene has interesting scuba gear, but nothing that gets me really excited.

I am sure that some folks might find more aspects in this video that they like.

She looks really good in scuba gear though. 🙂

Japanese frogwoman battles henchmen on dry land!

Sorry for not posting on the weekend, I was away most of the time.

But here is a short video with a nice Japanese frogwoman in action. Not underwater but on dry land. Thanks to whoever recommended me this one last January.

Well, I must admit, for me, the clip is somehow nice, but nothing special, but I guess it’s a good video for some of the wetsuit folks out there who like to see a woman in action while wearing a wetsuit. Sadly there are no underwater scenes with her at all, otherwise, they would have been in the video ;-).

The change from wetsuit to her “normal” clothes is hilarious. Interesting to see what she was supposed to wear under her wetsuit. Even cowboy boots. And it takes a “little” longer to get out of such a wetsuit 😆

I do like her trick to seduce the guys by slowly opening her wetsuit zipper. What a nice distraction 😉
